Dear Astronaut
by David C. Kopaska-Merkel

Pomegranate tea

I drink to you

dusk gathering

in your garden

Lambs borrow diamonds

and ride the sky

ancient poems you

painted on scrolls

bowls full of asters

your flower

incense burning

smoke remaking

lines on paper

transient potentials

tracing signatures on time

The roof pole you raised

is transited by your

wandering star

forever out of reach

never long

out of sight

or mind
